"Pet Owner Groups Protest Breed Ban." Concerned citizens voiced their
concerns at a public meeting on a proposed breed-specific dog ban in
Plymouth,Michigan.  
MAPBD member Bob Darden spoke to the council
and stated,"our organization strongly opposes legislation that determines
a dog to be dangerous based on specific breeds or phenotypic classes of
dogs."

" DANGEROUS PUPPY IMPORTS."  As U.S. shelters help solve local stray
problems, a Tufts University expert says many are importing dogs from
other countries to meet demand for animal adoptions.  But rather than shut
down, these shelters become unregulated de facto pet stores. Some
charge more than $200 per adoption for imported dogs. Bringing dogs in
from abroad runs a serious risk of importing disease.

" WHO'S BANKROLLING THE ENEMY?" Many people mistakenly believe
their donations to the Humane Society of the United States(HSUS) help
dogs in shelters throughout the country.  Yet, according to this well
researched article, HSUS doesn't own or support a single shelter and
notoriously has negative ratings from charity watchdog groups that analyze
its financial data.   With a $96 million dollar annual budget, HSUS uses
its tax-exempt status to aggressively work for legislation and public policy  
that is anti-hunting, anti-farming,and against the ownership and breeding
of companion animals.
